Washington, DC – Senate Leadership Fund today called on PolitiFact to correct its recent fact check story against Rep. Martha McSally that falsely concludes Rep. Kyrsten Sinema never denigrated American troops serving during the Iraq War. A CNN exposé found that Sinema promoted an anti-war event from a group she co-founded “depicting an American soldier as a skeleton inflicting ‘U.S. terror’ in Iraq and the Middle East.”
“It is undeniable that Rep. Kyrsten Sinema denigrated our brave troops serving in Iraq when she likened them to terrorists,” said Senate Leadership Fund Spokesman Chris Pack. “PolitiFact simply dropped the ball on its research of this ad and it needs to do the honorable thing and rescind its defective rating of the McSally campaign’s accurate ad – and it needs to do so today, before it suffers further embarrassment.”
Last Monday, a PolitiFact fact check story written by Miriam Valverde and edited by Angie Drobnic Holan “found no evidence of (Sinema) disparaging troops.” On Saturday, CNN published a story with indisputable evidence of Sinema likening American troops to terrorists.
