WASHINGTON, DC – Senate Leadership Fund President and CEO Steven Law released the following statement in response to Republicans holding the U.S. Senate majority:
“In a year when Republicans faced stiff political headwinds, an avalanche of liberal political spending and the historic midterm election disadvantage, our successful defense of the Republican Senate majority was a crucial accomplishment.
“President Trump and Leader McConnell deserve a huge amount of credit for delivering results for the American people that gave our candidates a strong platform to run on. From a roaring economy to middle-class tax cuts and two strong Supreme Court confirmations, Republicans have kept their promises and strengthened our nation.
“Leader McConnell also played an indispensable role in growing our national network of supporters to one of the most impactful in the country. Our benefactors’ generosity enabled our organizations to invest an historic $123.4 million in direct political activity to balance out the massive fundraising disparity between Republican and Democrat candidates in the 2018 midterms. Democrats threw everything they had at our Senate majority, and we held the line.”
