Senate Democrats will officially cause small business aid for keeping workers on payroll to run out this afternoon, as the U.S. Small Business Administration reports the previously-approved relief money is set to run dry.
Last week, Senate Republicans attempted to approve an emergency $250 billion in new funding authority for the program, which was blocked by Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats over unrelated demands. The Wall Street Journal excoriated congressional Democrats for the cynical move, writing: “This is getting old… Congress can clarify a few rules about lender liability and who is eligible for loans, but small businesses need the money.”
Democratic Senate candidates across the country will own Chuck Schumer choosing to play politics with the livelihoods of American workers. It’s time for these candidates to stop cowering and level with Americans whether they agree with holding aid for small businesses hostage or not.
