Fresh Criticism Caps Tough Week For Career Congressman Mo Brooks
Mo Brooks’ attempt to erase his vicious attacks on Donald Trump hit another road block as Alabama Trump Victory Chairman Perry O. Hooper Jr. publicly blasted Brooks for lying about his opposition to the President and endorsed Luther Strange.
Alabama Today: “Congressman Brooks’ claim that he supported Donald Trump in the general election is a flat-out lie,” Hooper said in a statement Thursday. “Not only did Congressman Brooks go on a radio show in October refusing to endorse Donald Trump, he actually refused to answer the question of who he planned on voting for in the election.”
Alabama Today: Hooper pointed out that in November, Brooks told a newspaper in North Carolina – a crucial swing state — that Trump was “not well suited for office,” calling the choice between Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton “the lesser of two evils.”
Alabama Today: Hooper concluded: “Additionally, I am proud to confirm that Luther Strange was all in for Donald Trump in my successful efforts to help Mr. Trump win in Pennsylvania and Ohio.”
AL.com: Former state Rep. Perry Hooper Jr. of Montgomery, who campaigned for Trump and supports Strange in the Senate race, said Brooks should apologize to Trump for comments about “serial adultery” and other comments Brooks made last year.
Roll Call: Victory Chairman Perry O. Hooper Jr. praised Strange for being “all in for Donald Trump in my successful efforts to help Mr. Trump win in Pennsylvania and Ohio.”
Montgomery Advertiser: Strange has won an endorsement from Perry Hooper Jr., who worked for Trump in Alabama last year and released a statement earlier this week attacking Brooks for comments made at Duke University before the election which said that he did not consider Trump or Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton suited to the office of president.
