Senator Kyrsten Sinema just stood on the Senate floor and delivered a defense of her support for the filibuster. Sinema said:
The filibuster “ensures that millions of Americans represented by the minority party have a voice.”
But Arizonans *STILL* can’t get an honest answer out of Mark Kelly on where he stands. This is the best Kelly has been able to muster on a critical issue that could change the face of our country as we know it: “So if there’s a real proposal, I’ll take a look at it and evaluate it based on what’s in the best interests of the country.”
Which, of course, means nothing at all. And is the exact same thing he’s been saying for years now. Here’s Kelly in 2020: “I’ve studied the issue, clearly. It’s a big decision. I think everybody recognizes it as a big decision… So it’s something I will take very seriously. And I’ll look at both sides.”
Is this really the best answer Kelly has to offer Arizonans after a year in the Senate and several more as a candidate?
“It is embarrassing for Mark Kelly that the best he has to offer Arizonans is dodges, word salad, and platitudes. If he’s really the ‘independent voice’ he told Arizonans he is, he’ll clearly articulate his agreement with Senator Sinema that eliminating the filibuster will only deepen the divisions in our country.” -SLF Communications Director Jack Pandol
