Bullock Supports Ending the Filibuster, Paving the Way for Radical Liberal Proposals

June 23, 2020

The movement to ban the Senate filibuster is gaining traction again among Washington liberals, with Biden confidante Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) pushing the idea this morning.

Coons was once a prominent supporter of the filibuster, claiming: “The filibuster rule in the Senate is one of the only remaining traditions that forces us to compromise. We need more of that, not less.”

But Steve Bullock vocally endorsed ending the filibuster “immediately” on the presidential campaign trail last fall, joining radicals like Elizabeth Warren.

If Bullock has his way, radical Democrats like Elizabeth Warren will be able to ram far-left proposals like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal through the Senate without any compromise. Doing away with the filibuster would chill important bipartisan work in the Senate and lead to dangerous, runaway policy making by the fringes of the Democratic Party.

Bullock is masquerading as a moderate, but he would either join or enable the most far-left parts of his party, meaning voters can’t trust him to reflect Montana’s priorities and values in the Senate.
