Garland Tucker, the opportunistic anti-Trump North Carolina Senate candidate, is beginning his quixotic primary challenge to Senator Thom Tillis with brazen lies to the very voters he’s seeking to represent.
Case in point: Tucker announced his campaign launch yesterday on Sean Hannity’s radio show by saying: “I think what [President Trump has] done to get this country back on the right track in the last two years is… right out of the Reagan-Thatcher playbook. It’s just really exciting to see what he’s done to the economy. When I’m elected Senator of North Carolina, I’m gonna support him 100% on what he’s doing with the economy for sure.”
Rewind to September 2016, when Donald Trump was the Republican nominee for President. Garland Tucker actively undermined Trump’s bid for the White House and personally attacked him:
- Tucker said Trump was not a “good, solid, conservative Republican.”
- Tucker said Trump had been “inconsistent — and sometimes downright heretical” on core issues.
- Tucker said that as a Christian, it was troubling to vote for Trump because he was “a twice-divorced admitted adulterer.”
- Tucker also noted that Trump has “uttered some of the most unkind, disgusting comments ever made by any American politician.”
“It is laughable that a charlatan like Garland Tucker thinks he can make this race into a question of who can better support our booming economy under President Trump. North Carolina needs a Senator who will work with the President – not one who was aiding Hillary Clinton’s presidential hopes and is now lying to cover his tracks.” -SLF Communications Director Jack Pandol
