The Colorado Independent Ethics Commission voted to find John Hickenlooper violated Colorado ethics rules while serving as Governor of Colorado.
Hickenlooper yesterday defied a lawful subpoena to appear before the Commission, which found him in contempt and obtained a court order involving the Colorado Attorney General’s office to compel Hickenlooper to testify.
Today, we saw why Hickenlooper didn’t want to testify. His rambling testimony relied so heavily on claiming he didn’t know about or couldn’t remember the details of his private jet travel and luxury accommodations, the complainant at one point asked: “Did you even prepare for today?”
Hickenlooper’s ethical failings and arrogant disregard for this process are certain to be top of mind for voters as they decide who they want to represent them in the U.S. Senate.
“John Hickenlooper abused his position and violated the trust placed in him by the people of Colorado to serve as their Governor, and he doesn’t even seem sorry about it. Why would Coloradans trust him to be any different in Washington?” -SLF Communications Director Jack Pandol
