Either Jason Kander has gone all Bernie Sanders, or he and his campaign have stumbled into an attack on his allies Claire McCaskill, Hillary Clinton & Barack Obama.
Just today Jason Kander released a new video and accompanying language attacking Roy Blunt for voting for the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Here is what he said about TARP:
“The bailout, which rewarded financial executives for their failures at the expense of middle class Missourians, was a huge handout from Congress to special interests at the height of the financial crisis. In the video, Jason addresses the issue and the decision by Congress to place corporate special interests ahead of the American people: “It’s especially unfortunate that this kind of intervention only happens when the richest 1% is in trouble. Well, the Wall Street executives and the corporate CEOs are all doing fine now, but many Americans, including Missourians, struggle to make ends meet.”
Here is the problem. Claire McCaskill, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama all voted for TARP. McCaskill went so far as to say on television that TARP was “wildly successful.” And of course, anyone paying attention to the Michigan Democratic Primary remembers Hillary Clinton attacking Bernie Sanders for opposing TARP.
So here is the question for Kander – will he extend his criticisms of those who voted for TARP to McCaskill, Clinton, and Obama?
