The Biden Administration will not extend asylum limits on the border according to the AP, making it more difficult to deport perpetrators of illegal border crossings. Experts have publicly worried ending this policy would be tantamount to inviting a surge of even more migrants to the border, triggering a “mass migration event” consisting of more than “170,000 migrants at the Mexico border.”
Although the Biden Administration claimed the surge of immigrants of the border was “seasonal,” evidence points strongly to the contrary. According to a scoop by the Washington Post, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is “on pace to make more than 200,000 detentions along the Mexican border in March, the highest monthly total since August.” CBP is holding more than 15,000 migrants in detention facilities, which already exceeds capacity.
And Mark Kelly shares political blame for the impact of the border crisis on Arizona. Kelly voted to enable every disastrous Biden border policy that led to this crisis:
- Kelly votedto let the Biden Administration cancel contracts to build the border wall.
- Kelly votedin opposition to the “Remain in Mexico” policy – which the Biden Administration ended and many have credited as a contributing factor to the border crisis.
- Kelly votedto protect federal funding for sanctuary cities that restrict local law enforcement from working with federal immigration authorities to catch and deport dangerous illegal aliens.
“Mark Kelly and Joe Biden created the chaos at the border that continues to ratchet up the pain and suffering on Arizona communities. The legacy of their policy agenda is a trail of wreckage leaving crime, drugs, and shattered lives behind – a preventable tragedy that only a change in leadership can fix.” -SLF Communications Director Jack Pandol
