It’s called ‘saying the quiet part loud.’ That’s what John Hickenlooper did on 9 News earlier this week, when he said local journalists should be “protecting” him from an ethics investigation into his use of private planes for travel.
Last night, 9 News’ Kyle Clark responded. He didn’t pull punches. Watch here:
Clark said: “Yeah, so that’s not how this works. So, the only thing that journalists should be protecting is the truth. If the truth is on former Governor Hickenlooper’s side in this ethics complaint, well then, he should rest easy. If it’s not on his side, then he should be concerned.
“Saying that what journalists should be protecting is him, the man, the politician? Yeah, that’s not how it’s gonna work around here.”
This comes after the Colorado Springs Gazette ripped Hickenlooper for “poor judgment” in choosing to mandate more electric vehicle use for Coloradans while accepting flights on the gas-fueled private plane of an electric vehicle manufacturer’s family: “Hickenlooper should consider the poor judgment of imposing ‘zero-emission’ battery cars on average Coloradans — while looking down from fossil-fueled luxury jets provided for free.”
“John Hickenlooper is flailing and looking for anyone to save him from his own actions. Hickenlooper will be held accountable at the ballot box as voters become familiar with his shady, hypocritical record in office.” -SLF Communications Director Jack Pandol
