Mark Kelly is learning the ways of Washington very quickly: say one thing and do another.
We just heard Kelly lament the decline of border security in his maiden speech on the Senate floor, saying: “We’ve had crisis after crisis on our border, each a result of decades of failure in Washington to adequately address border security and fix our broken immigration system.”
And yet immediately after delivering this speech, Kelly voted against protecting funding for border wall construction.
On the one hand, Kelly has previously stated that “we can’t have an incredibly porous border.” And yet, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol recently announced that arrests at the U.S.-Mexico border topped one million, the most since 2005. And Border Agents stopped 210,000 illegal border crossings last month – a new record.
When is Mark Kelly going to stop merely talking tough about border security and actually DO something about it?
