Mark Kelly the politician voted for a measure that would send a massive shockwave through the economy in a time of crisis – hiking the minimum wage to $15 an hour. It’s a Bernie Sanders-supported measure so extreme, even fellow Democrats like Kyrsten Sinema couldn’t support it. That’s because the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office found it would kill 1.4 million jobs.
Mark Kelly the businessman would have disagreed with Kelly the politician falling in line with the far left of his party. A company Kelly served on the board of sued to fight an $8.25 minimum wage – arguing in court fillings it would cause “substantial expense” to their business.
While his spokesman has claims Kelly had no role in business decisions on the board, Kelly has done nothing to substantiate this – will Kelly release the details of his compensation and board-related activity to prove this claim, or is he telling yet another politically convenient lie? Because as Kelly pontificates about the plight of workers, in previous years board members at this company were paid $120,000 per year while paying “poverty wages” to its employees.
The bottom line is this: even though he campaigned as an independent, we’re finding Kelly will fall in line with liberals in his party who pull the strings on Kelly’s voting habits – even when it goes against everything he’s said or done in the past.
