New Jersey’s Two Ethically Compromised Senators

April 27, 2018

Yesterday, the Senate Ethics Committee delivered a scathing “Public Letter of Admonition” to Senator Bob Menendez for accepting gifts from a convicted felon, all while using his official position to perform personal and business favors for said felon. The Committee found that Menendez’s misconduct violated Senate rules, “demonstrated poor judgment” and “reflected discredit upon the Senate.”

But Sen. Menendez isn’t the only New Jersey Senator who is implicated by the Senate Ethics Committee’s findings.  Sen. Cory Booker has consistently been Menendez’s biggest cheerleader, going so far as to skip committee hearings to sit front row at Menendez’s bribery trial. So while Booker makes moves to run for president in 2020, one thing is certain: he won’t be running on ethics.

“It’s a shame New Jersey has to put up with the embarrassment of Bob Menendez’s sleazy behavior—but the Garden State has the chance to start cleaning up the Menendez Mess this fall by electing Bob Hugin as his replacement.”  -Senate Leadership Fund Spokesman Chris Pack
