Patrick Murphy’s Super PAC gets $200,000 from daddy

February 1, 2016

Remember when Patrick Murphy refused to sign Alan Grayson’s “no Super PAC pledge?” Well, now we know why. The “unaffiliated” Super PAC supporting Murphy – “Floridians for a Strong Middle Class” – just received a major $200,000 influx of cash from none other than Patrick’s father, Thomas P. Murphy.

Of course, this should come as no surprise to anyone that has followed Murphy’s rise – his father also gave $250,000 to Patrick’s 2012 House Super PAC – American Sunrise PAC.

Also of interest in the latest report from “Floridians for a Strong Middle Class” is the $50,000 worth of donations from “230 East 63rd-6 Trust LLC.” Certainly Murphy, who claims to want to get so-called “dark money” out of politics, would be willing to disclose to the press just who is behind “230 East 63rd-6 Trust LLC.”

“Patrick Murphy’s family and friends helped buy him a seat in Congress in 2012, and it looks like they are intent on buying him a seat in the Senate this fall. Whether it’s his father or a mysterious ‘trust’ giving him big money, Murphy is nothing but a campaign finance hypocrite who wants to buy his way up the political ladder.” – Senate Leadership Fund Spokesman, Ian Prior
