Senate Democrats blocked $250 billion of small business aid designed to keep workers on payrolls – merely hours after learning 6.6 million Americans filed for unemployment last week, bringing the total to over 17 million unemployment claims during the pandemic.
Only a few weeks prior, Schumer and Pelosi were roundly criticized for a similar maneuver, tanking a $1.8 trillion bipartisan rescue package. The multi-day delay likely led to steeper unemployment and economic damage, which the Wall Street Journal laid at the feet of the Democratic leaders: “they deserve to be held responsible for the damage to markets and the economy from putting partisanship above the national interest.”
“If you are unemployed and wondering how you’ll make rent or put food on the table in America today, thank Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats. In the worst economic crisis in decades, Schumer and his minions have shamefully resorted to playing cruel games with the livelihoods of American families.
“Every Senate Democrat bankrolled by Schumer’s political machine must answer whether they agree with this unconscionable stand, because they will be held accountable for it in November.” -SLF Communications Director Jack Pandol
