In case you missed it, Patrick Murphy tried to delay news about relief for businesses affected by the toxic algae crisis so he could falsely take credit for it at a news conference today. This comes shortly after Murphy was caught vacationing on his dad’s yacht in Nantucket in the middle of that same toxic algae crisis.
In light of this latest scandal involving Murphy, Steven Law, president and CEO of Senate Leadership Fund, issued the following statement calling on him to step down:
“When you’re willing to actively impede something in your own constituents’ best interests to advance your political agenda, that’s when you’ve lost it as a public servant. Patrick Murphy abandoned his district in the middle of the algae crisis to go yachting in Nantucket, and now he has disgraced himself by abusing the power of his office to delay crisis relief so he can look more important than he is. It’s time for Murphy to spare his constituents this continuing spectacle, suspend his race and step down.”
