Watchdog Group Files FEC Complaint Alleging Cunningham May Have Used Campaign Funds to Support Extramarital Relationship

October 13, 2020

First, the Army announced it was investigating Cunningham for violating code of conduct. Now, a watchdog group has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission with evidence Cunningham may have used campaign funds to support his extramarital relationship.

Fox News: NC Democrat Cal Cunningham Faces FEC Complaint Over California Trip Amid Affair

The group alleges Cunningham must come clean about a California fundraiser that matches up with a meeting with his mistress in Los Angeles as reported by the Associated Press. If campaign funds were used in facilitating a meeting for personal reasons – like a meeting with his mistress – that would be a violation of federal campaign finance law.

The more we dig into Cunningham’s web of lies and obfuscation, the more questions are raised about his character and integrity. His continued refusal to straightforwardly answer even one single question from the press about this affair – as well as whether there are other women who may come forward – shows Cunningham’s arrogant belief that he is above answering for his behavior.
